Meet our staff
— Clara C. Duarte, Elinette Marrero,
Maria Milo,
Guida A. Paula Santos,
and Susana
Pereira — a group of experienced legal
professionals dedicated to providing our clients with courteous,
highly competent assistance.
Most of our staff members have been
with us for many years. They each speak two or three
languages. We are proud of the skill they bring to their
work and of their determination to give our clients the best
possible service.

Clara C. Duarte

Clara C. Duarte, who has a
B.A. in history from Trinity College, began her law office
career as a secretary for the Honorable Angelo L. dos
Santos, who is now a Superior Court judge, when he
practiced law in Hartford.
Ms. Duarte has been a
paralegal with us at Serrano & Serrano since we
established our firm. She works primarily with cases
involving family
law, workers
compensation, and Social Security Disability. She
also provides litigation assistance at civil and criminal
court trials.
Ms. Duarte is a notary and a
licensed real estate agent in Connecticut. She
speaks fluent Portuguese and Spanish. |

Elinette Marrero

Elinette Marrero has been with
us at Serrano & Serrano for eight years and manages
our personal
injury division. She has a paralegal certificate
from the University of Connecticut and has a background in
banking.
Ms. Marrero is a notary.
A native of Hartford, she speaks fluent Spanish. |

Maria Milo

Maria Milo manages our Serrano
& Serrano Waterbury area office located in
Naugatuck. She has been us for 12 years.
Prior to working for our firm,
Ms. Milo was the secretary for the Portuguese Consulate in
Waterbury and the office manager for the Luso Travel
Agency in Naugatuck . She has done extensive
volunteer work for the Waterbury Portuguese Community,
including serving as the first teacher of the Jose
Saramago Elementary School.
Ms. Milo was born and grew up
in Angola, Africa where she obtained an Associate of Arts
in Elementary Education. While working for our firm,
she has completed certification courses as a paralegal
specialist, a residential real estate closing manager and a
medical claims specialist.
Ms. Milo speaks Portuguese,
Spanish,
Italian and French. Her interests include gardening
and wildlife conservation. |

Guida A. Paula Santos

Guida A. Paula Santos is a
1996 graduate of the University of Connecticut with a
degree in business administration. She has been with
the firm for 10 years and oversees our real estate and bankruptcy
department.
Ms. Paula Santos has a
background in human resources. She grew up in
Newington, Connecticut, has lived in Europe, and speaks
fluent Portuguese
and Spanish. |

Susana Pereira

Susana Pereira came to our
firm in 2006 with 10 years of immigration
law experience. An immigrant herself, Ms. Pereira
attended schools in Hartford and comes from a family of
business owners.
Ms. Pereira has appeared on
television discussing current immigration issues.
She speaks fluent Portuguese and Spanish. |
