The meanest
looking dog can be a total creampuff —
gentle, lovable, good with children. And the
cuddliest looking little Pomerian can be a vicious
animal. It all depends on how a dog has been trained
and treated.
Regardless of size or
breed, a dog that has been shown love and kindness, that
has been gently trained, and that has been raised around
children will most likely be a gentle pet that will never
bite unless injured or surprised.
A dog that has been
treated viciously will act viciously. And when it is
a large, powerful dog that has been allowed to become
vicious, the result is a dangerous animal that can cause
serious or fatal injuries.
The dogs that are
most likely to cause serious injuries in dog bite attacks
are the breeds shown below. This is not because
these types of dogs are vicious by nature. It is
because these dogs are so large, strong and powerful that if
they are bred to be vicious the result is a very dangerous
animal and very severe dog bites.
Stay away, and teach
children to stay away, from any strange dogs. If the
dog happens to be one of the breeds shown below, be extra
careful. If a dog, particularly one of these dogs,
is roaming around by itself, report it to the police,
especially if the dog is near a park, playground,
schoolyard or other place where there are children.
